The Leopard Behind the Wine
Tiyani, a name etched into the very foundations of Silvan Safari, is no ordinary leopard. Her journey began in the most unexpected of places – our Ansellia Spa, which was still under construction at the time. Born amidst the hum of human creation, Tiyani grew up as much a part of our lodge as the very trees that grace our grounds.
From her earliest days, she embodied resilience and calm, traits that matched our vision of harmony with nature. Over the years, her relaxed disposition and striking appearance made her a cherished figure here at Silvan. We've often found her basking in the sun or strolling in and around the lodge, an emblem of the wild’s quiet strength.

Her story reflects the bond between Silvan Safari and the wilderness we celebrate. Tiyani’s name, which means “strong-willed” in the local language, Tsonga, serves as a reminder of the determination it takes to thrive in the bush. To capture the distinguished qualities of Tiyani in a bottle is no small feat. Hailing from Tulbagh, South Africa, a region renowned for its rich viticultural heritage, this 2017 shiraz is the fruit of exceptional terroir and masterful winemaking.
