June has unfolded as a truly remarkable month, gracing us with an array of exciting wildlife encounters. And I'm thrilled to share some of the most memorable sightings we've had.

Sibuyi isn't a frequent visitor at Silvan, so we were incredibly lucky to have recently been introduced to her newest cub. It's always a privilege to witness the beginning of a new generation in the bush, especially after she successfully raised a male and female to independence at the close of last year.

We've been fortunate to enjoy multiple sightings of Kuchava and her two almost independent cubs, Rhulani (female) and Xipuku (male). One particular morning, I found Rhulani basking alone in the gentle morning sun atop a termite mound, a picture of absolute serenity.

Along the banks of the Manyeleti River, Tiyani and her little cub have been frequent visitors. A standout afternoon saw us discover them with the dominant male, Tortoise Pan, all together in the river.
The cub, being his offspring, displayed a keen interest in him whilst Tiyani navigated his presence with careful steps. She eventually moved off, leaving the cub alone with the male, a fascinating interaction to observe.

One evening, we had a thrilling encounter with Langa as she embarked on a hunt. We sat in the darkness, waiting with bated breath. The distinctive snorts of impala filled the air, followed by the unmistakable sound of a takedown, igniting our excitement.
As our lights illuminated a marula tree, we were greeted with the sight of her hoisting the impala effortlessly into its branches.

The northern sector has also offered a few exquisite cheetah sightings this month. One morning, we caught up with a male cheetah who had just made an impala kill, only to lose it to a clan of hyenas before he could even take his first bite.
We followed him for a time, eventually losing sight of him as he gave chase to another herd of impala, a testament to the relentless rhythm of the bush.

One of the formidable Ndzenga male lions has been frequently seen with the Nkuhuma lionesses this month, a strong indication of their shifting dynamics. He was also observed mating with one of the lionesses.
The Nkuhuma pride has showcased their prowess, successfully taking down a waterbuck and a blue wildebeest within a mere five days. The Ndzenga male has since claimed the remains of the wildebeest carcass for himself, asserting his dominance within the pride.

Elephants have been a consistent presence, with numerous families moving through the area, accompanied by many magnificent bull elephants currently roaming our traversing area.

Another spectacular moment unfolded one morning as a large herd of buffalo descended upon the dam to drink. The light and setting were simply perfect for photography, creating an indelible image against the African backdrop.
